Over the years, we have seen people in trouble with the law going to treatment and getting their sentence to reduce and even some charges removed.
The whole idea of this is simple. The court knows that the person will not get help in jail. Furthermore, the fact that the person is getting help means he is starting to take responsibility for his addiction. They know that the underlying issue behind the criminal acts that they committed is their addiction.
As a family sometimes it is thought that the person will only go to treatment to avoid jail. It can be true but do not worry. A good treatment will do the job to rehabilitate the person and get them to see that a drug-free life is much better.
Treatment facilities will coordinate with the court before, during, and after the program.
